Dental Implants Take Root
The best way to reduce your chances of getting any dental disease is to develop good oral hygiene habits.
Patients needing to replace lost teeth have another option besides partial or full dentures and traditional bridges. Dental implants can be used to replace all, a few, or only one missing tooth without any of the characteristic disadvantages often associated with dentures. Because implants make use of titanium anchors placed firmly in the jaw, they are permanently set and will not slip. As a result, when the prosthetic teeth are attached to the anchors with connectors (abutments), dental implants provide both the look and feel of natural teeth. Those patients with sufficient jawbone to support dental implants are the best candidates for the procedure. If necessary, a bone graft procedure can be undertaken to provide implants with an adequate foundation.
Making the decision to have dental implants can genuinely be life altering for someone who has missing teeth. Dental implants look, feel and function like your own teeth and give you back your smile and boost confidence. Dental implants actually become one with the bone in which they are embedded through a process called “osseointegration” (fusing of titanium to bone).
